Project history

Date Update 22 October 2009 The final draft of the full guideline is available for its pre-publication check. If you wish to report a factual error you need to do so via one of the registered stakeholder organisations listed, by the deadline shown. 19 August 2009 Additional evidence, (the CLOT study), has been published since the guideline consultation. This evidence is significant to the recommendations concerning the use of stockings in stroke and medical patients. The GDG was therefore reconvened to review the evidence and have revised a number of recommendations. Following this review, a decision was taken to hold a second consultation on the revised recommendations and the relevant chapters of the guideline. The four week consultation will run from 19 August to 16 September 2009. The consequence of the second consultation is a delay to the publication of the guideline, which will now publish on 27 January 2010. 1 April 2009 Responsibility for the development of this guideline has transferred to the National Clinical Guidelines Centre for Acute and Chronic Conditions. Key contacts and timelines remain unchanged. 2 March 2009 The consultation draft of the guideline is out for consultation with stakeholders. If you wish to comment, you need to do so via one of the registered stakeholder | organisations, by the deadline shown 28 February 2008 The scope (see link below) defines what aspects of care are covered by the guideline and to whom it applies. Comments that were made by stakeholders during the consultation on the scope can be seen in the scope consultation table (see link below). The Guideline Development Group (GDG) oversees the development process. See below for a list of GDG members. The NCCs may make a focussed call for evidence on specific clinical questions or subquestions, after it has done initial searches. It  will be able to make a call at any point during development of the guideline, and stakeholders will usually be given 4weeks to respond. The NCC will approach all registered stakeholders for this evidence. The NCC may not issue any calls for evidence for a guideline if the Guideline Development Group (GDG) feels it is not necessary. In addition, the NCCs will accept relevant confidential data for consideration by the GDG.  Development of the clinical guideline is under way and is being led by the National Collaborating Centre. The Guideline Development Group meets regularly to oversee and assist the identification, review and synthesis of the evidence, the incorporation of expert consensus opinion and the translation of the evidence into recommendations for practice and audit criteria. Two versions of the guideline are under preparation: a full guideline and a NICE short-form guideline.  Please see timescales above for dates of consultation with stakeholders. 1 August 2007 Consultation on the draft scope is complete and the scope is being modified in the light of comments received. When completed it will be posted on the website.
