This guideline updates and replaces NICE clinical guideline 29 (published September 2005) and NICE clinical guideline 7 (published October 2003). It offers evidence-based advice on the prevention and management of pressure ulcers.
The scope defines what aspects of care are covered by the guideline and to whom it applies. Comments that were made by stakeholders during the consultation on the scope can be seen in the scope consultation table. The Guideline Development Group (GDG) oversees the development process.
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has commissioned the National Clinical Guidelines Centre to produce a clinical guideline on Pressure Ulcer Management. This will replace the Pressure Ulcer Management guideline published by NICE in September 2005 and also the Pressure Relieving Devices guideline published by NICE in October 2003. A new scope will be produced for this guideline.
