1.1 Fluocinolone acetonide intravitreal implant is not recommended for the treatment of chronic diabetic macular oedema considered insufficiently responsive to available therapies.

NICE has accredited the process used by the Centre for Health Technology Evaluation at NICE to produce technology appraisals guidance. Accreditation is valid for 5 years from September 2009 and applies to guidance produced since June 2008 using the processes described in NICE's 'The guide to the methods of technology appraisal' (2008).
