Professor Mike Kelly, Public Health Excellence Centre Director

Mike graduated in social science from the University of York, holds a master's degree in sociology from the University of Leicester, and undertook his PhD in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Dundee. Before becoming director of research and information at the HDA in December 2000, he was professor of social sciences and head of the school of social sciences at the University of Greenwich. Before that he was senior lecturer in health promotion at the University of Glasgow.

Mike is a medical sociologist with special research interests in coronary heart disease prevention, chronic illness, disability, exercise and health and community involvement in health promotion.
