Bursary scheme for patient, carer and voluntary organisations

We are pleased to announce the launch of the bursary scheme for the 2014 NICE Annual Conference which is taking place in Birmingham on 13 and 14 May 2014. This year's bursary package consists of a full 2-day delegate pass to the conference worth £340 plus VAT. The bursary scheme is open to national patient, carer, service user and voluntary organisations, local and regional Healthwatches, and can be applied for by completing and returning the application form below.

Bursary packages are limited and interest is expected to be high so don't delay in returning your application!

The conference

NICE 2014 will focus on:

  • Creating a truly integrated health and social care system
  • The evolving relationship between NICE, public health and local government
  • Patient-centred care - where we are post-Francis.

Bursary scheme attendees at the 2013 NICE Conference, said:

“There was an extensive amount of time set aside for networking at the conference, which was very useful in helping me to meet new contacts and to discuss key learning and questions from the presentations and streamed sessions.”

“I have written an article about various parts of the conference for our newsletter which goes to patients and professionals. I have included information on telehealth, education and empowerment, Healthwatch, NICE guidelines and how NICE now incorporates social care.”

“Simply that I think it is good that NICE provides such a scheme for people from organisations that might not otherwise be able to afford to send them, but who are integral to providing quality healthcare.”

How the bursary places are selected

Applications will be considered for eligibility by the NICE Public Involvement Programme. Applications which meet the eligibility criteria will be selected for a bursary at random.

Because of the limited number of bursary packages available, priority may be given to those organisations who have not previously received a NICE conference bursary.

Successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible following the closing date. Unsuccessful applicants will be entitled to book delegate passes at a discounted rate.

How to apply

In order to be considered for one of the bursary packages, please complete and return the application form below by 5pm, Monday 13 January 2014.

Please send your completed application forms electronically to bursary2014@nice.org.uk or by post to:
