Evaluation and review of NICE implementation evidence (ERNIE)

The ERNIE database is a source of information on the implementation and uptake of NICE guidance.

ERNIE provides:

  • a bank of guidance-specific NICE implementation uptake reports produced in house
  • references to external literature
  • a simple classification system summarising the uptake of NICE guidance

NICE has implemented a number of mechanisms, systems and procedures to support ERNIE.

Staff at NICE regularly update information on ERNIE. There is no quality assessment of the external literature included in ERNIE – it is there to provide a comprehensive overview of the available information.

ERNIE provides an indication of the geographical coverage and result of each study assessed, but not the methodological quality. Each assessed study on ERNIE will also be accompanied by a short description giving additional information. See details on how the data will be assessed.
