Invitation to apply for the role of GDG member for NICE Guideline on Common Mental Health Disorders
The National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health (NCCMH) is recruiting Guideline Development Group (GDG) members to develop a clinical guideline on the identification, assessment and care pathways for common mental health disorders. The NCCMH, which includes senior clinicians, systematic reviewers, project managers, health economists and research assistants, is funded by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) to produce evidence-based clinical guidelines for the NHS. It is a joint partnership between the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the British Psychological Society.
Members of the GDG are drawn from the NHS, health and social care professionals, patients and carers and academia. They do not represent their organisations but are selected for their expertise, experience of working with multidisciplinary and lay colleagues and understanding of evidence based healthcare.
All members of Guideline Development Groups have equal status, which reflects the relevance and importance of their different expertise and experience. They include health professionals and researchers as well as patient and carer members. All Group members need to attend regular meetings and undertake background reading.
Skills and experience
We are looking for individuals in one or more of the following areas, relating to the identification, assessment and care pathways for common mental health disorders:

Applicants will have experience of working with multi-professional committees or working groups at a national or regional level. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written skills are required, along with an ability to communicate complex issues to differing audiences.
Applicants will have an understanding of guideline development processes, systematic reviews, critical appraisal methods and the role of health economics. Once appointed, the Guideline Development Group members will work closely with the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health technical team responsible for reviewing and presenting the evidence to the Guideline Development Group.
