This quality standard covers the diagnosis and management of children and young people (younger than 16 years) with bacterial meningitis or meningococcal septicaemia.
July 2015: This quality standard has been reviewed against the update of the NICE guideline on Bacterial meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia: Management of bacterial meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia in children and young people younger than 16 years in primary and secondary care which is a development source for this quality standard.
The guideline on bacterial meningitis was updated in February 2015. It was concluded that no changes were required to the quality standard.
