On 31 May 2006 the MHRA issued revised prescribing advice for venlafaxine. NICE asked its National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health to set up an independent working group to consider whether it is necessary to make changes to the small number of recommendations on venlafaxine in the clinical guidelines on anxiety (clinical guideline 22) and depression (clinical guideline 23) in the light of the revised prescribing advice. The working group was made up of representatives from the two groups who developed the original guidelines.

Registered stakeholders on our database will be invited to register for this guideline and comment on the proposed amendments via this website.

The consultation draft of the amendment to the guideline is out for consultation with stakeholders. If you wish to comment, you need to do so via one of the registered stakeholder organisations listed above, by the deadline shown.

National organisations wishing to register as a stakeholder can do so by emailing the stakeholder registration form (below) to the Guidelines team.
8 February 2007 Consultation (9 January - 6 February 2007) on the draft of the guideline is complete and the guideline is being modified in the light of comments received.
