Since relaunching the NICE website last year we’ve continued to introduce new sections and enhance existing features.
The speedy and effective ‘Search NICE guidance’ tool has, not surprisingly, proved popular with visitors to the site. The search results now include a brief description of each piece of guidance, so you can be sure you have the right document. Then you simply click on the version you want – full version, information for the public or quick reference guide – to link direct to the document. (Guidance published since September is available in pdf or Word format.)
Other search enhancements mean that, whatever you’re looking for – be it guidance, consultation dates or implementation advice – the most relevant documents will always appear in the top search results. They can also be sorted by date. In addition, our new online glossary defines the terms and acronyms we use (we’ll be regularly adding new terms to the glossary).
We have three new online databases:
- Evaluation and Review of NICE Implementation Evidence database (ERNIE) provides information on the uptake of NICE guidance and how it is being implemented.
- guidance research recommendations database promotes NICE research recommendations and encourages feedback on them (to help expand the evidence base used to develop future NICE guidance).
- shared learning database offers tips and advice from people who have implemented NICE guidance.
We’ve introduced a guidance by date page, displaying all NICE guidance published in any given month. Also, we have revamped our online newsletter.
Future attractions
A forward planner, due to be launched this Summer, will provide key dates for all NICE guidance in development, including consultations and meetings.
For the future, we are planning to introduce enhanced subscription services. We also plan to make it easier for visitors to select specific topic information – and receive email alerts when the information is updated.
If you have any ideas on how we can develop and improve our website even more – please email us your comments and suggestions.
