Revised costing tools for two technology appraisals

Two costing tools have been revised following feedback from the manufacturer. Revised tools were uploaded to the website on 6 February 2008.

The costing statement accompanying "Infliximab for the treatment of psoriasis" (technology appraisal 134) has been amended to correct the dosing schedule for infliximab.

The costing template accompanying "Rheumatoid arthritis - adalimumab, etanercept and infliximab" (technology appraisal 130) has not materially changed, but the ability to vary whether administration of infliximab is commissioned as a day case or outpatient has been simplified.

NICE takes the perspective of the commissioner when developing costing tools and uses the national Payment by Results tariff where it applies. Using the Payment by Results tariff ensures that the costs in the template represent the cost to the primary care trust of commissioning predicted changes in activity, or changes in a provider's income, but may not represent the actual cost to individual trusts delivering the activity, or the cost of provision that was considered when assessing cost effectiveness.

We welcome feedback on any of our costing tools. Please send feedback to costing@nice.org.uk
