NICE is looking for jargon-free, easy to understand examples of how you have successfully met the challenges - and overcome the pitfalls - of putting NICE guidance into practice

Following the success of the Shared Learning Award 2007 we have made this year's award bigger and better. The NICE Shared Learning Awards give you the chance to share your experience of implementing NICE guidance with colleagues in the NHS and beyond. It is a chance for you to tell us what worked, what didn't work and what you learnt along the way.

The submissions for the Shared Learning Award 2008 will be judged under three categories: projects covering general implementation systems or approaches, projects focussed on implementing specific clinical guidelines and projects focussed on getting public health guidance into practice.

Winners will be given a platform to present their work to their peers at the NICE conference. This is an unrivalled opportunity for organisations to share learning and gain recognition for their hard work. Along with the personal and professional satisfaction of winning the award, there is also £500 up for grabs in each category, with an additional £1000 for the overall winner, to support implementation projects in their organisation. The shortlisted candidates will also be offered free and discounted places at the NICE conference.

How the Shared Learning Award 2008 will work:

  • 3 submissions from each category will be shortlisted for the award (9 in total)
  • A colour poster for each shortlisted entry will be produced for display at the NICE conference
  • A finalist will be selected from the shortlisted entries in each category.
  • The 3 finalists will be selected to give a 10-15 minute presentation on their entry at the conference.
  • One of the 3 finalists will then be selected as the overall award winner.

What's on offer:

  • Each of the 9 shortlisted entrants will receive one free place at the NICE conference plus 25% off a second delegate place
  • The three finalists will be offered one additional free place (instead of 25% off a second delegate place) and £500 for winning the category.
  • The overall winner will receive an additional £1,000 to support NICE guidance implementation projects within their organisation.
