Accessing treatment recommended by NICE

Healthcare professionals in England are expected to take NICE guidance fully into account when exercising their clinical judgement. This guidance does not, however override the individual responsibility of health professionals to make decisions appropriate to the circumstances of the individual patient, in consultation with the patient and/or guardian or carer.

NICE has developed a leaflet that explains what help and support patients can get if they meet the relevant criteria, and are still unable to access treatment that NICE has recommended. A Welsh version is also available.
