The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has today (28 April 2006) issued its first draft guidance through its new rapid appraisal process. Draft guidance on the clinical and cost-effectiveness of docetaxel and paclitaxel for the treatment of early breast cancer following surgery is now available for comment. NICE has not yet issued final guidance to the NHS on the use of docetaxel or paclitaxel in early breast cancer. All comments must be received by 22 May 2006. Final guidance is expected in August 2006, six months earlier than anticipated.
