2003/ 010 NICE launches Confidential Enquiry into Maternal and Child Health

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) today launches the Confidential Enquiry into Maternal and Child Health (CEMACH). The new organisation results from a merger of the Confidential Enquiry into Maternal Deaths (CEMD) and the Confidential Enquiry into Stillbirths and Deaths in Infancy (CESDI), both funded by NICE.

The new organisation integrates enquiries into the deaths of mothers, babies and children, and will support healthcare professionals across the NHS in improving maternal, neonatal and paediatric care.
