Confidential Enquiry into Maternal and Child Health CEMACH (2009) Perinatal Mortality 2007

Description: The report looks at variation in perinatal mortality rates for 2007 across England and provides comparator data for individual trusts, neonatal networks and different categories of neonatal units. 49% of women who had a still birth and 52% who had a neonatal death had an antenatal booking by 12 weeks compared with 71% in the general maternity population.

Description: A national review of maternity care. Results included: 78% women make a ?booking? appointment by 12 weeks; 86% trusts plan 10 antenatal appointments; 25% of women reported receiving fewer than the recommended number of appointments; 92% women received an ultrasound scan at 10 to 13 weeks; 99% women received a second scan at 18 and 20 weeks; all trusts offer screening for Down?s syndrome, but only 18% offered the most effective tests recommended in guidance
