Mitchell, L. et al (2011) Screening for alcohol use disorders in a genitourinary medicine setting. International Journal of STD & AIDS. 22(11):682-3, 2011 Nov.

Description: This study explored genitourinary (GU) medicine clinics screening for, and giving advice on, harmful drinking as recommended in NICE guidance. All first attendees to the Northumberland GU Service in April 2010 were given a questionnaire on arrival. Of the 256 attendees only 11 (4.3%) declined completing the questionnaire. The findings from the completed questionnaires highlighted the link between alcohol and poor sexual health.

Public Health England (2013) Alcohol Statistics from the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS) 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013

Description: The data in this report shows how the specialist treatment system for alcohol in England performed in 2012-13. There are also comparative figures for the four years prior. It contains figures reported by treatment services to the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS). Results found that the treatment that most people received in 2012-13 was a structured psychosocial intervention, normally consisting of ?talking therapies? such as cognitive behavioural therapy.
