We were consulting on potential new indicators for inclusion in the NICE indicator menu. This consultation closed on 8 March 2017.
Thank you to everyone who commented. We will be reviewing your comments and working on amendments to the proposed changes.
NICE has a remit to develop indicators for general practice and clinical commissioning group (CCG) indicator frameworks.
NICE indicators are currently used in a number of national indicator sets including NHS England’s General Practice Outcome Standards (GPOS) and General Practice
CCG level indicators are used in NHS England’s CCG Improvement and Assessment Framework (CCG IAF) and the CCG Outcome Indicator Set (CCG OIS).
The general practice indicators included within this consultation have the potential to be used for a variety of purposes, this may involve being used in a national measurement framework or a local quality improvement
What will happen to my comments?
In June 2017, the NICE indicator advisory committee will meet to consider the results of:
- this consultation
- a pilot across a sample of general practices for potential general practice level indicators
- feasibility testing for potential CCG level indicators by NHS Digital.
The committee will make recommendations to the NICE Guidance Executive about which indicators should be included on the NICE menu, to be published in August 2017.
We will publish the final proposals, alongside an explanation of the changes that have been made as a result of the consultation, on our website.
We reserve the right to edit comments, or not to publish them at all. We do this when we think the comments are too long, publication would be unlawful or publication would be inappropriate.
We publish consultation comments in the interest of openness and transparency. Comments are published as a record of the submissions received, they are not endorsed by NICE, our officers or advisory committees.
