At NICE, we enable improved patient access to the best treatments and care. We support the health and social care system by providing evidence-based guidance that ensures value for money.
Our guidance covers a broad range of topics. These include the prevention and management of medical conditions, the clinical and cost effectiveness of new treatments or technologies and the delivery of health and care services. We work closely with our system partners and the life sciences industry to identify the most effective health and care interventions.
How we make decisions
When developing our guidance, we follow an open and rigorous decision-making process. Independent committees develop our recommendations, which are subject to scrutiny through open consultation. We welcome constructive challenge and a broad range of viewpoints. These help strengthen our guidance and make sure it's useful and useable.

Our vision for the future
We intend to be at the forefront of the drive to bring new treatments to patients and service users faster.
We're prioritising the evaluation of transformational medtech and digital health technologies that address the prevention, treatment or management of conditions that are considered high priority to the health and care system. These include cardiovascular disease, diabetes and mental health.
We’re also making greater use of a broader evidence-base, such as real-world evidence. And we’re collaborating with our partners to support effective implementation of our guidance. All of this will enable us to improve patient access to the best treatments and care every day.
