A timetable of quality standards topics for development has been agreed with the Department of Health and other key partners.

Assessment through the existing accreditation programme is typically for processes to produce multiple pieces of guidance. For guidance producers who need to develop their processes and then produce guidance to that process before applying, this can take a number of years. There is a risk relevant individual guidelines may not be available to support the quality standards programme timetable.

In recognition of this we are piloting single guideline assessment to assess the processes used to develop individual guidelines that will be of key importance to the evidence base of quality standards in development. Single guideline assessment will only be used in exceptional circumstances and is by invitation only. All steps of the accreditation process will be followed, but may take less time to complete.
