From Friday 30 March the briefings will be removed from our website.

Between 2012 and 2015 we developed a series of local government briefings for a range of public health topics. The briefings were created for local authorities and their partner organisations in the health and voluntary sectors, in particular, those involved with health and wellbeing boards.

We no longer have the capacity to maintain these to an acceptable standard and the information is now out of date. Many of the hyperlinks are broken, preventing you finding the information you need.

We've made sure that you're still able to access the information you need for your role and organisation. There have been updates and improvements to:

  • website searches: you can filter the results by product area, including guidance, advice and quality standards.
  • NICE Pathways: these interactive flowcharts contain everything we say on a topic. We've improved the search facility and, for new guidance, there's a rationale explaining why we made certain recommendations.
  • examples from practice and information about costs and savings: we'll also be updating our into practice pages to provide access to practical support.

Our guidelines and quality standards cover a wide range of topics relevant to local government and remain the best source of reference to inform evidence-based decision making.
