Between 2012 and 2015 we developed a series of local government briefings for a range of public health topics. These will be gradually withdrawn over the coming months but we will continue to provide access to those that are current.

These briefings are meant for local authorities and their partner organisations in the health and voluntary sectors, in particular, those involved with health and wellbeing boards. They will be relevant to:

  • local authority officers and councillors
  • directors of public health
  • commissioners
  • directors of adult social care and children's services
  • members of local authority scrutiny committees.

The briefings may also be used alongside the local joint strategic needs assessment to support the development of joint health and wellbeing strategies.

NICE guidelines and quality standards cover a wide range of topics relevant to local government and remain the best source of reference to inform evidence-based decision making.
