Update information
September 2025: We removed the section on clinical diagnosis of community-acquired pneumonia in primary care. This information is covered by NICE's guideline on pneumonia: diagnosis and management.
November 2023: We amended recommendation 1.3.2 to clarify that the threshold for treatment or referral for further assessment may be lower for people with an ARI who are more likely to have a poor outcome.
Minor changes since publication
