This quality standard covers assessing, diagnosing and managing chronic heart failure in adults (aged 18 and over). It describes high-quality care in priority areas for improvement.

NICE has also published a quality standard for acute heart failure.

In February 2016, this quality standard was updated in response to an annual review, which identified changes in the areas for improvement for this topic. For more information see update information.

Keeping quality standards up to date

We checked this quality standard in 2016 and it is still up to date.
