In October 2025, we reviewed the recommendations on antiviral treatment.

Surveillance decision

We will not update the recommendations. The areas considered for update were:

• the viral load threshold for antiviral treatment in adults younger than 30 years,
• the antiviral treatment sequence recommended to adults and children. There is new evidence that highlights the benefits of tenofovir as a first-line treatment.

Despite there being new evidence it is unlikely to have a significant impact on recommendations in terms of treatment.
