Update information

September 2016: Recommendation 1.3.3.2 has been updated and replaced by recommendations 1.2.9, 1.6.3, 1.6.4, 1.7.5 and 1.8.17 in the NICE guideline on mental health problems in people with learning disabilities. Recommendations 1.5.1.2 and 1.6.2.7 have been updated and replaced by recommendation 1.8.16 in the NICE guideline on mental health problems in people with learning disabilities.

May 2016: Recommendation 1.6.2.3 has been updated and partially replaces recommendation 1.3 in donepezil, galantamine, rivastigmine and memantine for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (NICE technology appraisal guidance 217). The rest of the guideline remains unchanged.

Recommendations are marked as:

  • [new 2016] if evidence has been reviewed and the recommendation has been added or updated

  • [2011] if they are from NICE technology appraisal 217

  • [2006] if the evidence has not been reviewed since the original guideline.

April 2014: The wording of recommendation 1.4.3.2 has been changed to clarify the circumstances when imaging is needed.

October 2012: Recommendation 1.7.2.5 has been updated, and a new recommendation 1.7.2.6 has been added, to incorporate recommendations from donepezil, galantamine, rivastigmine and memantine for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (NICE technology appraisal guidance 217). Subsequent recommendation numbers in this section have changed accordingly. The rest of the guideline remains unchanged.
