6.1 The Committee noted that most of the evidence for efficacy came from 1 single‑blind RCT with its primary end point at 6-month follow-up. Given the prevalence and chronicity of chronic heart failure in the population the Committee considered that more and longer-term data were necessary to better understand the role of pressure monitoring in its management; this underpinned the recommendation for further research.
6.2 The Committee noted that other interventional procedures and implantable devices have been used for the direct or indirect monitoring of intracardiac pressure in heart failure. These monitor pressure at other sites, including the left atrium and right ventricular outflow tract, and various procedures are used for their insertion.
