NICE has assessed the E-vita open plus to help the NHS decide whether to use this product.
The E-vita open plus is a device that can be used to treat aneurysms and tears in the upper part of the main blood vessel that carries blood from the heart (the aorta). An aneurysm is a balloon-like swelling caused by a weakness in the wall of a blood vessel. NICE has said that the E-vita open plus can be used for some people, depending on the type of operation they need.
Hospital teams may want to use the E-vita open plus because it could avoid the need for a second operation, and could save money in the long term (around 2 years after the procedure).
