June 2026 exceptional surveillance of anaphylaxis: assessment and referral after emergency treatment (NICE guideline NG258)

In June 2026, we reviewed the recommendations on measurement of mast cell tryptase in children under 16 years, the evidence for intranasal adrenaline and the recommendations for research.

Surveillance decision

We will not update this guideline. New evidence does not warrant updating recommendations in any of these areas at this time, however, we will continue to monitor for emerging evidence about intranasal adrenaline. Additionally, we will add anaphylaxis caused by cow milk allergy in children to the issues log for this NICE guideline as an area to check for new evidence at the next surveillance review.
