Implementation support toolkit

Introduction

With around 600,000 births in England and Wales each year, the antenatal period is an excellent opportunity to provide support and information to pregnant women and pregnant trans men and non-binary people (and their families) about pregnancy-related health and care topics, birth, and the postnatal period, and to assess their risk of complications. Even if someone is fit and healthy during their pregnancy, concerns and complications can still happen.

Good quality antenatal care is vital to identify and deal with potential problems and reduce the chance of poor outcomes for both the woman or person giving birth, and their baby.
