Interview with Frances Healey, Associate Director of Patient Safety at NHS England for falls in older people - assessment after a fall and preventing further fallsby NICEcomms | Free Listening on SoundCloud

Frances Healy, Associate Director of Patient Safety at NHS England and a guideline development group member for this guideline discusses the evidence behind the recommendations and what this means for clinical practice.

The falls guideline CG161 provides recommendations for the assessment and prevention of falls in older people. It’s an extension to the remit of the NICE clinical guideline CG21 which is community focused to include assessing and preventing falls in older people during a hospital stay.

In particular, this podcast covers the age ranges used in the guideline and using multifactorial assessment rather than risk prediction tools in the inpatient setting.
