As part of the new proportionate approach to technology appraisals (PATT) initiative, this topic was considered suitable for an abbreviated approach. The simplified process followed is set out in Section 5.7.23 of the Methods guide (as for cost-comparison appraisals). A subset of the committee (chair and lead team) will review the evidence submitted and the external assessment group (EAG) report, and responses from stakeholders. If the Chair and lead team consider that this topic could continue without the need for a full committee discussion, then it will proceed directly to final draft guidance (FDG).
