Prioritisation programme:
HealthTech
Reason for decision:
Not eligible for Health Technology Evaluation guidance
Rationale:
Prioritisation Board agreed that there was limited evidence available for this topic. They noted that the evidence that is available predominantly focuses on the use of botulinum toxin injections. Consequently, they agreed that the topic should be referred to the Interventional Procedures team for a decision as to whether the topic was appropriate to be addressed as an IP. The IP programme sought specialist advice on this topic which indicated that this procedure is not being carried out in the NHS (but is being performed privately) and is considered to be a minor variation on an existing procedure performed widely on the NHS for a different indication, which is unlikely to alter the procedure's safety and efficacy. Therefore, in line with the previous decision taken in 2022, this procedure is still considered as out of the remit of IP programme as it is an established procedure.
