World Evidence Based Healthcare Day 2021: Learn how a collaboration between NICE and Australian academics helped shape the evidence based rapid COVID-19 guidelines

Online event will lift the lid on how the two organisations worked together during the pandemic

As part of the second annual World Evidence Based Healthcare (EBHC) Day 2021, NICE and Guidelines International Network (GIN) will be hosting a free 90-minute interactive event to give an insight on how global health care agencies have come together in response to the pandemic.

It will commence with a presentation discussing the collaboration work between NICE and Australia‘s Monash University in producing rapid COVID-19 guidelines during the pandemic.

Dr Fiona Glen and Dr Justine Karpusheff from NICE and Prof Tari Turner and Prof Julian Elliott from Monash will talk about how the two organisations have shared intelligence and supported each other in the process of developing guidelines, what has worked, and what lessons have been learnt so far.

Those attending will then have the chance to share their thoughts and ideas on collaborative working. The findings of which will be collated and shared as a report or paper following the event.

Dr Roberta James, of the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN), will chair the session on behalf of GIN.

Registration is now open for the event which takes place via Zoom on Wednesday 20 October at 11am in the UK.

NICE and six other global leaders in evidence-based healthcare - Australia's JBI (previouslt known as the Joanna Briggs Institute), Guidelines International Network (GIN), Cochrane, Campbell Collaboration, the Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare, the Centre for Evidence-based Health Care - launched the World Evidence-based Healthcare (EBHC) Day last year.

This year’s EBHC Day theme is ‘The role of evidence in an infodemic’.

The 2021 campaign supports the infodemic management efforts of the World Health Organization (WHO) by exploring the role of evidence in an infodemic, in particular promoting access to trustworthy, evidence-informed health information.
