Literature search for what was available and then sought to develop a tool which could be used throughout the organisation as opposed to specaility specific.

How did you implement the project

1. development of a VTE risk assessment tool 2. Supporting guidance for clinicians 3. Anti-embolic stockings monitoring sheet. 4. Patient education leaflet

Key findings

original base position against guidance with internal audit; follow up audit following introduction of VTE Tool, and supporting documents six months after implementation.

Key learning points

1. Its good to share a problem. 2. networking is important to achieve effective change. 3. Good to work across multiple discipline sand specialities to gain consensus challenging and rewarding yet hard work, but worth the effort.
