All our committees include experienced professionals with knowledge of a particular topic within health or social care. Professional members also bring specific technical skills to the process of developing and shaping our guidance.

Professional roles explained
The chair helps the commitee to work collaboratively and ensures a balanced contribution from all committee members. The chair also makes sure the committee follows our policies, methods and processes.
Topic experts are appointed to join committee meetings covering topics related to their expertise.
Committee members are appointed for 3 years, or for the whole of the development of a guideline. They are expected to attend all meetings.
