This quality standard covers diagnosing and managing drug allergy in adults, young people and children. It describes high-quality care in priority areas for improvement.

It does not cover treating acute allergic reactions to drugs. Emergency treatment for severe, life‑threatening allergic reactions is covered in NICE’s quality standard for anaphylaxis.

Keeping quality standards up to date

We checked this quality standard in 2016 and it is still up to date.
