Treatment and care for people who are referred to a specialist mental health service

People with severe depression who are worried about harming themselves or are at risk of doing so, have hallucinations or delusions, and/or need care from a team of professionals may be referred to a specialist mental health service. Further details about the treatments and support provided by a specialist mental health service are given in the information on 'Treating depression in adults' (see www.nice.org.uk/CG90).
