Information for the public

Cerliponase alfa (Brineura) is not normally available on the NHS for treating neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis type 2 (CLN2). CLN2 is a type of Batten disease that is also known as tripeptidyl peptidase 1 deficiency.

If your child is already having cerliponase alfa on the NHS, they should be able to continue until they, you and their healthcare professional decide when best to stop. Your child’s healthcare professional should talk with you and your child about other treatment options.
