This quality standard covers diagnosing and managing lung cancer in adults (aged 18 and over). It describes high-quality care in priority areas for improvement.

In November 2015, changes were made to this quality standard to ensure alignment with the updated NICE guideline on suspected cancer: recognition and referral. A statement on referral for chest X-ray has been replaced by a new statement on appointment with a cancer specialist.

Keeping quality standards up to date

We checked this quality standard in 2017 and we are updating it. See the development page for progress on the update.
