Information for the public
Zanidatamab (Ziihera) is available on the NHS. It is a possible treatment for HER2-positive (immunohistochemistry 3 positive) unresectable locally advanced or metastatic biliary tract cancer in adults after at least 1 line of systemic treatment.
Locally advanced means the cancer has spread to nearby tissues. Unresectable means it cannot be removed with surgery.
Lines of treatment are a sequence of treatments, starting with the most suitable and moving to alternatives if the first does not work or the condition gets worse. Each line can be a single drug or a combination of drugs.
Systemic treatments are medicines that work throughout the whole body.
