9 Update information

July 2025: We have made minor editorial changes to the wording in section 1.1 to align with the NICE guideline on venous thromboembolism in over 16s: reducing the risk of hospital-acquired deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism. This does not affect the meaning or intent of the guidance.

February 2014: Implementation section updated to clarify that apixaban is recommended as an option for preventing venous thromboembolism after total hip or knee replacement.
