Obsessive-compulsive disorder and body dysmorphic disorder: assessment and management: Draft scope

You can now comment on this draft scope. The scope defines what the guideline will (and will not) cover.

NICE is transforming to deliver more timely, relevant and impactful guidance while maintaining our commitment to quality and rigour. To improve our responsiveness to emerging evidence and priorities, all guideline projects now follow an 18-month maximum development timeline from scope to publication.

Due to this new timeframe, we've refined the scope for the Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders guideline. This work will now directly update the original guideline, focusing solely on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and body dysmorphic disorder (BDD).

We understand some stakeholders wanted to include additional related disorders defined in ICD-11, such as hoarding disorder and health anxiety disorder. Unfortunately, these cannot be included within our revised timeline.

The refined scope aims to ensure the guidelines remain evidence-based, useful and focused on areas of greatest need and impact.

We welcome your views on the scope during this consultation period and encourage suggestions for future guideline topics via our topic suggestion form.

Thank you for your continued support.

The consultation closes on 06/06/2025 at 5pm
