Draft guidance consultation

The consultation for the update of Suspected sepsis: recognition, diagnosis and early management (NG51) is now open.

NICE is transforming to deliver more timely, relevant and impactful guidance while maintaining our commitment to quality. Following stakeholder feedback, we are proposing to split the final version of this guideline by population. NG51 will be split into the following sections:
•  NEWS2 populations (those aged 16 and over),
•  Pregnant or recently pregnant people, and
•  Children and young people.

Splitting the sepsis guideline into these three sections will make it easier to find relevant information quickly for each of these populations.  We will publish our final recommendations as three separate guidelines later this year.

We welcome your comments on the draft recommendations, evidence summary and equality health impact assessments.

The consultation closes on Friday 18th July 2025 at 5pm
