Rationale for change

  1. The NICE Centre for Guidelines has recently conducted an update of NICE guideline 106 (NG106) Chronic heart failure in adults: diagnosis and management. NICE updated recommendations on treating people with newly diagnosed and pre-existing heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction. The update published on 3rd September 2025.

  2. The recommendations in the update to NG106 are now inconsistent with the technology appraisals which cover the management of chronic heart failure. This inconsistency needs to be resolved so that NICE can produce useful and usable recommendations.
