What's happening in accreditation?

Accreditation and Quality Standards

There are close links between accreditation and quality standards. Where relevant, accredited sources of information are considered in the development of NICE quality standards.

To date, accredited sources of guidance have been used in development of the following NICE Quality Standards:

  • Breast Cancer
  • CKD
  • Stroke
  • Ovarian Cancer
  • Meningitis
  • Asthma
  • Supporting people to live well with dementia

New individual guideline assessment pilot

To support the quality standards programme timetable, we are piloting a programme to assess development processes for individual guidelines. The first assessment in the pilot has just been completed and further information is available on the individual guideline decisions web page.

Accreditation service fees

Eligible commercial organisations whose guidance is not freely available to users via NICE Evidence Services can still have access to pre-application advice and apply for NICE accreditation.

Pre-application advice is provided in the form of bespoke one to one meetings or ongoing dialogue with a technical analyst with the purpose of providing the support required to improve readiness for accreditation. The fee for this service is £1,000 + VAT.

The assessment service fee for commercial organisations who apply for NICE accreditation is £5,000 + VAT. This service includes the steps of the process from the submission of the application through to the final advisory committee decision.

If you would like to find out more about these services, please contact Andrew Harding (andrew.harding@nice.org.uk or accreditation@nice.org.uk)
