Guideline Review Panels

NICE has established a number of guideline review panels, consisting of four or five members, including a chair and a deputy.

The guideline review panel validates the final full guideline. It pays particular attention to how the guideline development group has responded to any comments received during consultation.

Following recent changes to the guideline development process the Institute has moved from having seven standing Guideline Review Panels to four panels. Guideline Review Panels are now allocated to individual guidelines rather than being directly linked to the National Collaborating Centres.

The membership of some Guideline Review Panels has changed as some members have left and new members have been recruited. NICE is confirming the biographical details of the new Guideline Review Panels and will publish further details on the NICE website shortly.

The new Guideline Review Panels and guideline allocations have been active since July 2006 to allow for a hand-over period whilst guidelines were completed.

The Guideline Review Panels have a meeting together at NICE three times a year. Please look in the 'Guideline Review Panel Meeting minutes´ section for the minutes from each of these meetings.
