NICE's Equality Scheme

NICE's equality scheme sets out how it is meeting its obligations on equality and discrimination and what it still needs to do. The original scheme and implementation plan covered the period from 2007 to the end of March 2010. The revised scheme and plan covers the period from April 2010 to 2013.

NICE's annual equality report shows the progress made each year in implementing the scheme. There have been four annual equality reports. The 2011 report includes information on the effect of NICE's policies on equality, required by the Equality Act 2010.

NICE receives strategic advice on the equality scheme and how it implements it from the Annual Equality Forum, a meeting mainly of people from the groups most affected by the scheme. The Annual Equality Forum has met four times - in October 2008, October 2009, October 2010 and October 2011.

NICE has set equality objectives for the four-year period from April 2012, as required by the 2010 Act .
