NICE's Equality Scheme

NICE's equality scheme sets out how it meets its obligations on equality and discrimination. The original scheme and implementation plan covered the period from 2007 to the end of March 2010. A revised scheme and plan covered the period from April 2010 to 2013. A statement of NICE's approach to ensuring compliance with its legal obligations on equality and human rights covers the period from April 2013 to 2016.

NICE's annual equality report shows the progress made each year in implementing the scheme. There have been six annual equality reports. Reports since 2011 include information on the effect of NICE's policies on equality, as required by the Equality Act 2010.

NICE receives strategic advice on the equality scheme and how it implements it from the Annual Equality Forum, a meeting mainly of people from the groups most affected by the scheme. The Annual Equality Forum has met six times, most recently in October 2013.

NICE has set equality objectives for the period from April 2013, as required by the 2010 Act. These are the same as those agreed in 2012.
