Metadata

We are working towards EGMS compliance and a number of our metadata elements conform to Dublin Core.  Included in the metadata work, we have developed a corporate taxonomy used to improve navigation and searching on the site.

The NICE metadata standards define the metadata elements used on the NICE website. It incorporates elements from Dublin Core and the e-Government Metadata Standard.

NICE is currently developing its metadata standards to:

• improve the sites navigation and search
• help interoperability with other sites and electronic media
• comply with government standards

So far NICE has:

• decided which metadata elements will be used on the site.
• started defining them and producing the encoding schemes
• begun implementing them across the site, starting with the guidance section.
