Help with preparing the briefing book on a product

This page sets out the procedures a company should follow if it would like help from NICE to produce a briefing book for NICE's scientific advice programme.

What is a briefing book?

Companies requesting scientific advice from NICE must prepare a briefing book about their product. The briefing book includes background information on the disease area, gives data on the product and proposed evidence plans for it, and lists the questions the companies would like NICE to answer.

More information on the content of a briefing book.

What help can NICE offer?

Technical staff from NICE can advise companies on the type of information that is useful and on the types of questions that NICE is able to answer.

Help is only available for the purposes of producing a briefing book for NICE's scientific advice programme.

What happens once a company has expressed an interest in this service?

NICE will contact the company to discuss its requirements in detail. NICE will then estimate the number of days it will take to help the company, and what type of help is needed (for example, a technical analyst only, or a technical analyst with additional senior support). The company will be asked to agree the time estimate and a maximum cost for the service. NICE's standard terms and conditions for scientific advice apply. The work will start as soon as NICE receives a signed contract from the company.
